Volunteer shop assistants – St Barnabas House

St Barnabas House is an independent charitable hospice which provides end of life care services, both at the hospice and in the local community, to adults with advanced progressive life-limiting conditions.

Volunteering at a charity shop is a very rewarding role.

You will be part of a team, learn new skills and find an outlet for your creative flair or your passion for fashion.

There are many roles that may suit you: customer service, shop display, sorting and prepping stock, serving at the till, administration, cleaning and more.

Volunteer at a family fun day – Jamie’s Wish Trust

Jamie’s Wish is operated solely by unpaid volunteers, including the two co-founders Tracey Terry and Jody Lee who manage the charity.

They are a mother and daughter who lost their son/brother Jamie to cancer in 2007.

An annual family fun day is held in Littlehampton every July to raise crucial funds for the charity, and they are looking for volunteers to help at this event.

Roles available include: dressing up in a mascot costume and walking around greeting children; manning a fundraising stall with a Jamie’s Wish long-serving volunteer; distributing leaflets to businesses and residential homes; walking advertising on the day of the family fun day and helping set up the venue for the one day event.

4Sight club assistant (Littlehampton) – 4Sight

Do you have some spare time on a fortnightly basis?

4Sight are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their existing team of volunteers, to assist with the running of their Littlehampton Social Club for the Blind.

The Littlehampton club is one of numerous clubs around West Sussex which offer vital social support for many individuals living with sight loss around the county.

You will: assist with the club, make tea and coffee, assist with club visits and assist with club activities.

The club runs on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

Home visiting volunteer – Home-Start Arun

Home-Start volunteers visit families with at least one child under-five once a week.

Volunteers offer support to families facing a wide range of issues, such as loneliness and isolation, ill health, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, multiple births, special needs, first time parenthood, domestic violence or disability.

Volunteers are someone the family can talk to confidentially.

They can play with the children or introduce ideas for activities.

A volunteer could be ‘an extra pair of hands’ in everyday situations or accompany on outings to the park, library or toddler group.
