We are pleased to have recently been able to take on two new members of staff who have joined us on a one-year apprenticeship via Chichester College.

Our new apprentices, Grace and Shelley, will be working within the HR and payroll team and the voluntary services team respectively.

An apprentice is a person who has a formal contract of employment and is employed at an apprentice minimum wage.

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for students who have not received a level-4 qualification or higher to gain experience of a working environment alongside their studies.

The benefits for us are that we will have another person working within the team.

We will support and train them as we would with any regular member of staff at no cost to the apprentice.

We are hoping that this scheme will be part of an ongoing relationship which will be of value to both us and Chichester College.

In addition to our new apprentices, we are also pleased to be able to offer a voluntary role to James and Paul (James’ support worker) from The Aldingbourne Trust.

James and Paul will visit the hospice a couple of times a month providing administrative support to our hospice outreach project team.

James is autistic and has been supported by WorkAid to find employment in the community.

WorkAid is part of The Aldingbourne Trust, a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities to live independently.

We hope that this association will be ongoing and really appreciate James and Paul’s help.
