Sussex Sharks have signed Sri Lankan international Nuwan Kulasekara who is set to make his debut in the NatWest T20 Blast South Group this evening.

They have moved swiftly to snap up the 33-year-old as they look to pile on the pressure at the top of the table against Kent Spitfires at Canterbury (6.30pm start) tonight,

The Sharks are in fourth spot in the table, three points shy of top spot having played a game less then second-placed Gloucestershire.

Kulasekara has played 50 times for Sri Lanka in the T20 format, as well as 173 One-Day International matches, taking 242 international wickets across the two white-ball formats.

He joins the Sharks in absence of Bangladeshi international Mustafizur Rahman, who is now due to join Sussex for their final four NatWest T20 Blast South Group games.

Kulasekara will be available for the matches against Kent Spitfires at Canterbury, Middlesex at The 1st Central County Ground, and Glamorgan at Cardiff.

The Sharks have a good recent record away from home in the NatWest T20 Blast, winning their last six matches on the road in games that have yielded a result.

The Sussex squad is as follows: Will Beer, Danny Briggs, Craig Cachopa, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Nuwan Kulasekara, Matt Machan, Tymal Mills, Chris Nash, Phil Salt, Ajmal Shahzad, Ross Taylor and Luke Wright.
