A LIFEBOAT team rescued a man after he fell overboard some five-and-a-half miles away from Littlehampton.

A volunteer crew from the town’s RNLI lifeboat station were scrambled on Monday evening (August 17) after a man, believed to be in his late teens, fell overboard from an inflatable craft.

They rushed to his aid, about half-a-mile off Bognor Regis’ coastline.

A spokesman for the lifeboat service, said: “As the person had been in the sea for a period of time an ambulance had been called so that the paramedics could assess his medical condition.”

The man’s craft was taken to Bognor Yacht Club.

The lifeboat returned to its base at 8.45pm,
