TRIBUTES have been paid to a 20-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a horrific crash on the A29 last week.

He is William Phillip Frederick Ruewell, of West Chiltington Lane, Billingshurst.

In a tribute, William’s parents Philip and Barbara described him as their ‘beautiful young man’.

They said: “William was our dearly loved only son and a loving brother to Lydia and Ellie.

“He was triumphant over everything except the one thing that claims us all. He was our beautiful young man.”

William, 20, was riding a Honda VFR 800F motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo V40 hatchback at around 4.30pm.

The 69-year-old car driver from Bermuda was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until September 1.

Tributes to Mr Ruewell have been made on Spotted Littlehampton’s Facebook page.

Kerrie Hopkins said: “Thoughts are with the families .... So sad rip x.”

Chris Ingram expressed his own tribute, saying: “Another sad day for a bike rider, rip fella thoughts to the family an friends.”

On the Gazette’s Facebook page, Gill Mitchell said: “Another sad loss of a young life my thoughts are with his family and his young biker friend whose pal was taken in that terrible crash so sad x”

While Jane Kelly said the biker’s friends were already planning their own touching tributes. “He was a friend of my son, he is arranging a football match in his memory with all his school friends to raise money for the charity of the family’s choice,” she said.

Peter Beale was the father of one of the young motorcyclist’s friends. On his own Facebook page, he described the 20-year-old as ‘one of the nicest lads’ he had ever met.

Witnesses to the incident should call police on 101 or by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting Operation Stanley
