West Sussex County Council has added both schools in East Preston to the growing list of institutions closing their doors due to the heavy snow fall hitting the Gazette area.
East Preston Infant School and the neighbouring junior school are today closed.
Walberton and Binsted CofE school is also shutting due to the increasingly difficult conditions.
The Gazette understands that Rustington’s Summerlea Primary School has now urged parents to begin picking up their children. Pupils can be collected from the site between 11am and 1pm, when it is due to close.
The Littlehampton Academy is also allowing students to go home before the weather becomes any worse.
However, a spokeswoman from the academy said its library would remain open until 3pm today, for children who are waiting to be collected.
The full list of schools closed in the Gazette area is: Arundel C0fE Primary, Amberley CofE First School, Bury CofE Primary, St Philip’s Catholic Primary, in Arundel and Cornfield School, Littlehampton. Barnham Primary School will close at noon and The Angmering School will close at 11.35am except for A-level students. Lyminster Primary School shut at 10.30am.
More snow-related updates will be posted on the Gazette’s website throughout the day.
