Police warn of rise in thieves targeting garages in Littlehampton

A SUDDEN spate of garage break-ins across Littlehampton have prompted police to warn homeowners to lock up their outbuildings.

Various items have been taken from garages across the town – predominantly near the town centre – in recent weeks.

Items taken included bikes, electrical equipment, food and alcohol.

PCSO Michelle Davies, of Arun Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Outbuildings can be an easy target for thieves and many people store expensive items within them.”

She is urging people to consider installing alarms and good quality padlocks. Other security devices include anti-tamper screws on hinges and external security lights.

PCSO Davies added: “Residents are being asked to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to Police at the time.”

If a crime is in progress call 999. Those with any information about a crime can also call 101 or

Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
