THESE pupils in Yapton had the honour of officially opening the village’s newly refurbished post office and Co-operative store.

On Friday, the children from Yapton Primary School reopened the shop and post office, in Main Road.

For their efforts, the Co-operative presented the youngsters’ school with a cheque for £500.

The store had been closed for the past few weeks while it was being expanded.

Eden Kirkby, retail business manager, said new facility had been a hit with customers.

Eden said: “The store is now around 70 per cent larger than before and has been refitted to improve the range of produce available and shopping environment, as well as enabling us to include more energy saving measures.”

The opening hours of the Post Office, which now operate from two dedicated tills in the main retail counter area, have also been extended to match the store’s opening hours.

The store and post office are open 6am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 7am-11pm on Sundays.

As part of the reopening, customers have the opportunity to win £150 Co-operative vouchers by simply giving their feedback about the new store, by April 11.
