Nurse accused of '˜incorrectly' informing family that relative died

A nurse has been accused of '˜incorrectly' informing the family of a resident at nursing home that she had died.

Maurizio Battaglia, who was working at Fairlight Nursing Home, in Worthing Road, Rustington, in 2015, is facing a two-day hearing by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

The hearing is set to take place from April 11 to 13.

Maurizio is facing four allegations, including sending ‘inappropriate and/or abusive and/or threatening emails to Colleage A’ on two occasions on March 4.

The first charge states: “On 26 February 2015 [Maurizio] incorrectly informed the family of Resident A that she had died.”

Maurizio has also been accused of sending inappropriate and/or abusive and/or threatening emails to the Nursing and Midwifery Council and/or its staff on five occasions.

The last charge states four of the emails Maurizio is alleged to have sent betweeen March 2015 and Jana were ‘aggravated by the racial content of the communications’.

The allegations are stated on the Nursing and Midwifery website.

Fairlight Nursing Home declined to comment.
