A man died after his motorbike collided with a car yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
The crash was at the bottom of Bury Hill near Amberley at 4.35pm, causing the A29 to be closed in both directions.
The motorcyclist was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene while the car driver was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester and later released.
A retained fire crew from Petworth was called to make the road safe.
The road remained closed until 10pm with diversions in place near Watersfield and the Whiteways Lodge roundabout.
Police enquiries are continuing, witnesses are asked to call 101.
