Littlehampton Carnival queens to get impressive range of prizes

IMPRESSIVE cash prizes will be given to whoever is picked to become this year’s carnival queen and junior queen.

The cash prize for the carnival queen will be £250, donated by Guess Jewellers, High Street, Littlehampton, plus £100 of jewellery.

While the junior queen will win £50, courtesy of the Arun View Inn, also in Littlehampton.

Those picked to take part as a carnival queen, open to those aged 14 to 17, junior queen, for 11 to 13, and flower girls, seven to ten, will also receive a designer ball bown, plus day wear.

But girls who are selected will be expected to represent the Littlehampton Carnival for a year at various events.

The competition opened last week in the Gazette, and 13-year-old Yvonne Flynn was among the first entrants this year.

The year eight pupil at The Littlehampton Academy is from New Road, Littlehampton, and her hobbies include photography, dancing and music.

She will be among those hoping to become a junior queen in time for the carnival. which takes place on July 12. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, February 19, and the Gazette will each week feature one of this year’s entrants.
