ASBO for Littlehampton teenager
A LITTLEHAMPTON teenager has been banned from leaving his house at night.
Jack Lambeth, 15, of Linden Road, was handed an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO), which stops him going out between 9.30pm and 7am until January 30, 2011.
An Arun District Council spokesman said the ASBO was applied for following Lambeth's persistent refusal to "heed preventative warnings or accept any form of support from the council's anti-social behaviour team".
He added that Lambert's "sustained anti-social behaviour" included incidents of theft, assault, criminal damage and riding mini-motos, some, but not all, of which Lambeth denied, at Chichester Magistrates' Court on January 30.
Councillor Roger Elkins said the granting of an ASBO was always a last resort.
"Before we get to this stage anti-social behaviour workers do their best to engage with the individual to offer them help and guidance to address their behaviour.
"Unfortunately, Lambeth has resisted all attempts to help change his behaviour, which has caused a great deal of distress to many local residents. This is completely unacceptable and as a result of his actions he must now live with these restrictions on his freedom."
Lambeth is also banned from engaging in conduct that is likely to cause alarm, distress or harassment to others, or encouraging others to do so, and engaging in behaviour which is likely to be threatening, intimidating, abusive or insulting to others, or inciting others to do so.
A three-month Individual Support Order was also made, which will be managed by the Youth Offending Service, and will aim to help Lambeth change his behaviour.
