WHILE television chef Rusty Lee was soaked doing her ice bucket challenge in Jubilee Gardens, Arundel, competitors and spectators got equally wet at the festival’s bathtub race.

After the initial battle for a clear start, ‘Sloggy Bottoms’ from Middleton-on-Sea finished first, closely followed by reigning champions The Red Lion Pub and Diabetes UK in third.

Sainsbury’s Littlehampton and Crossroads Care South Central’s ‘Stone Age shop and drop’ vessel, whose progress the Gazette had been following in the lead- up to the race, managed a respectable fifth place.

Lucy Ashworth, whose husband rowed in the Diabetes UK vessel, said: “All competitors and supporters deserve a medal for taking part.”
