A-LEVELS: Plenty make the grade at The Littlehampton Academy

Jumping for joy at results

Jumping for joy at results

STUDENTS in Littlehampton have today (Thursday, August 14) celebrated their A-level results.

There was a mixture of emotions as teenagers from across The Littlehampton Academy arrived to pick up their much-anticipated results.

Some cried tears of joy, having been accepted into their university of choice, while others were shocked by results that they could never have imagined achieving.

The academy achieved a 98 per cent pass rate – which is in line with the national average – with some exceptional individual performances from some.

Among them include Year-13 students Emma Collins (A*AA), Jessica Gilpin (AAA), Holly Hughes (A*A*B) and Nicolas Wilson (AABB).

The proportion of those receiving A* to B grades was slightly down on last year, from 42 per cent to just over a third (36 per cent).

However, a vast majority of students at the school managed to make the grade to get into their first choice universities.

The school also recorded notable results at BTEC level, with half receiving either Distinction* or Distinction.

For the full story, see next week’s Littlehampton Gazette (Thursday, August 21).
