ROYAL Marines will carry out a gruelling march to raise money for their wounded comrades.

A team of more than 80 Royal Marines, former Royal Marines, wives, mums and supporters are taking part in the 50/50 Yomp for the charity Help Our Wounded Royal Marines and Supporting Arms.

They will be leaving Brighton Pier on Saturday, July 4, for the start of a 50-mile march carrying 50lbs in weight along the south coast.

The Yomp will pass through Southwick and Shoreham before arriving at Worthing Pier around 10.30am then continue on to Littlehampton and Chichester.

After spending the night at Lakeside Holiday Park, the team will then continue to Havant on Sunday, July 5, aiming to arrive at the Ship Inn at 4pm.

Organiser Dave Lilburn said: “The team will be met by the new Brighton mayor in the morning to start this gruelling challenge for us.

“The Yomp is over two days, carrying 50lbs in weight in aid of our wounded Royal Marines.”
