LITTLEHAMPTON is set for another bumper festive Saturday (December 13), as the carnival committee stages its Christmas Fun Day.

Father Christmas will be welcoming young visitors to his grotto, in Hunnies restaurant, in Clifton Road, there will be more than 20 stalls along High Street and entertainment all day long.

Town mayor Jill Long will be joined by the Arundel and Littlehampton Scout Band to open the event at 10am, and the fun continues until 4pm.

Among the attractions will be birds of prey displays by Owls About Town and Punch and Judy shows, both in Clifton Road, children’s funfair rides and Dillistones’ charity organ in the pedestrian precinct, and traditional treats including roast chestnuts and toffee apples.

Over in the grotto, Father Christmas will not only be giving each child a present, but also a packet of reindeer dust, to sprinkle in their garden, so that the reindeer passing overhead on Christmas night know where to visit. There is a charge of £2.50.

DJs Studio 1 will be the comperes for the entertainment programme, featuring Celebration Samba, Karen and Steve, of Collage, Littlehampton Ukulele Jam, the Bamboo Band, performing Christmas calypso numbers, the Sussex Tornados cheerleading troupe and Littlehampton Musical Comedy Society, with excerpts from its panto, Mother Goose.

The carnival’s ‘royals’, led by Carnival Queen Mariah Lee, will be out and about, together with mascot Hampton the hedgehog, and committee members wearing festive costumes, as will be many traders.
