East Preston-based charity Shared Lives has had a brilliant start to its year of fundraising for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

The launch event was a jumble sale at the Conservative Hall, in Sea Road, on Saturday.

Harvey Forsythe, one of the organisers, said: “What a weekend! We raised £1,212 at the jumble sale and we were really, really pleased.

“This is a fantastic way to start the year of fundraising. We are going to spend the whole year raising money and we are going to be really trying hard.”

Shared Lives is linked to the Catholic church Our Lady Star of the Sea in East Preston.
