A CONVICTED robber on the run from Ford Prison has been captured by police.

An alert was issued on Thursday (July 2) for Lee Fudge, 29, who walked out of the open prison.

Fudge was jailed for life in 2007 for the robbery of a BP garage in Kent that year.

He absconded from the prison with Mark Chatfield, 39, who was jailed for four years for burglary in August, 2014, after he broke into a home in Guildford in 2013.

Fudge was arrested by police in Kent on Saturday (July 4) and returned to custody.

“Thanks to the public and the media for their help tracing him,” said a spokesman.

Police are still seeking Chatfield.

Public urged not to approach on-the-run prisoners.
