BRITISH Transport Police are trying to trace a man who vandalised a car and attempted to steal a bicycle at Worthing station.

Officers are appealing for information following the incident, which took place on Saturday, January 16.

The police said at approximately 12.20am, a man walked past a parked, unattended Jaguar X-Type and attacked the wing-mirror, knocking it off. He then began to walk through the station concourse, dangerously throwing objects before attempting to steal a bicycle.

Police have now released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak with in connection with this incident.

PS Russ Stobbs said: “This appears to be a totally unjustified and random act of aggression for which we will not tolerate.

“The victim’s car has been left with irreparable damage and it is important that we identify the individual responsible and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016 quoting reference 306 on 11/03/2016.
