Police, an ambulance, and a fire crew attended the scene around 1.55pm at Asda in South Street, where a vehicle was found to have reversed into the window near the front entrance.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue service said a man and a woman, believed to be in their 80s, were in the car when the incident occurred. There were also two young girls accompanying the couple, but it is unknown if they were in the car.

According to the fire service spokesman, the man, who was driving, had accidentally placed his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake when reversing out of the car park, and had gone onto the curb and hit the window.
