THE ribbon was cut to mark the grand opening of a new convenience store in Littlehampton on Monday (October 23).
Town mayor Joyce Bowyer, along with the Littlehampton Carnival Queen Megan Swift and Hampton the Hedgehog, were among the guests of honour to officially open the new Morrisons M local store, in Surrey Street.
A total of 20 new jobs have been created, with six positions still up for grabs.
Staff at the shop, on the site of the former Blockbuster video rental outlet, were also joined by representatives from Littlehampton-based charity Jamie’s Wish during the event.
The new retailer sells a range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as coffee and pastries.
Store manager, Michael Simpson, said: “My head has been a real blur this morning. It’s been a long time coming so we’re really happy it’s happened.
“Littlehampton is a great place so we’re all very excited to be opening a store here. I want to know my customers by name and really get to know what matters to them.”
The store is open seven days a week, from 7am to 11pm.
