A PETERSFIELD building firm is throwing its weight behind our business awards for another year.

Long-time sponsor of the awards Southdowns Builders Ltd specialises in brickwork, stonework and caters for all aspects of roofing including tiling, slate and leadwork.

Owner of the firm Robert ‘Mitch’ Mitchell said he was backing the awards for the seventh year in a row to help support the business community.

“I think it is a good thing to promote small businesses,” he said.

He said if all the small business worked together we could ‘get the country back on track’.

The awards ceremony at the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel in Arundel is a ‘great night out’, he said.

Like last year, he is sponsoring the Manufacturing and Construction category – and is looking for an innovative firm to win the gong.

Southdowns Builders is a good example of a successful local construction firm – accredited by various bodies such as Selsey-based Checkatrade, the Federation of Small Business and Lead Contractors Association.

Robert said the firm was working on a number of good projects at the moment, and the company seemed to be thriving despite the recent economic downturn.

The firm’s motto ‘from manholes to mansions’ sums up the approach of
the company, and it says there is ‘no job too small’ for it to take on.

The company works all over the south-east region, meaning it is going from strength-to-strength by taking on a range of projects in a wide area.

But supporting other construction and manufacturing firms is something the company is proud of, and what better way to do it than sponsoring the local newspaper awards?
