Body found in woodland at Burpham

POLICE are working to solve the mystery of a woman’s body found in woodland on the outskirts of Burpham.

The remains of the body were discovered by a dog walker at around 11am on Saturday (February 18).

Officers cordoned off the area while a forensic archaeologist examined the scene. It is believed the body had been there for at least 10 years. The woman is thought to have been aged between 30 and 50.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “A full investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and to identify the deceased.

“Officers are keeping an open mind and are currently treating the death as unexplained.”
