ANGMERING Parish Council held a ‘successful’ BMX JAM on Saturday, September 26 to celebrate the opening of the new BMX course in Angmering.

Between 11am and 4pm, BMX enthusiasts turned up to take on the new track and test out their biking skills.

BMX riding professional Jay Cowley was also in attendance to give demonstrations, as well as Angmering Cycling Club.

Riders got a chance to practice before racing started, and there was a short safety talk to all competitors.

There was also a chance for anyone to show off their jumping skills at the dirt jumping competition, which was judged by Jay Cowley and Dangerous Dave.

Claire Fullman, administrator at Angmering Parish Council, said: “It was a real success - we had races, competitions, and a BMX professional turned up.

“Everyone had a great time at this free event, and the spectator line along the barriers was completely filled with people.

“We had the East Preston Fire Station in attendance, who were demonstrating cyclist visability.

“Lots of trophies and medals given out, and we’ve had lots of good responses.

“Our youngest competition, Joseph, was four years old, and he did really well.”
