A SPATE of fires started by arsonists kept firefighters busy in Littlehampton on Saturday night (May 3).
The five fires, involving cars, a bin, a fence and greenhouses, all happened in the space of seven hours.
The fires are all being treated as deliberate and have been linked by police.
The first call to the fire service came at 9.50pm on Saturda
y (May 3).
Pallets, greenhouses and bales of bamboo had all been set alight outside a garden centre in Toddington Lane, Littlehampton.
A few hours later, at 2.30am, the Littlehampton firefighters were called to Carvel Way to a deliberate car fire. The car was completely destroyed.
Shortly after, at 2.50am, another call came in reporting a bin fire in nearby Southfields Road.
And just 30 minutes later, at 3.20am, another car was set alight a few streets away in Westlands.
At 4.15am, the arsonists struck again, this time setting fire to a car and a fence in Davits Drive.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "We were really concerned at one point that the calls were going to keep coming.
"They were all in the same area and were all deliberate.
"The police were informed and stepped up patrols."
