CUSTOMERS at a Horsham pub have successfully played their part in creating a new world record.

They took part in a synchronised wine tasting at The Lynd Cross in Springfield Road during the pub's recent wine festival.

The event was staged simultaneously at 680 other Wetherspoon pubs across the UK, with the aim of beating the existing record of 5,100 wine tasters, set in Spain in 2006.

Guinness World Records have officially confirmed that the overall number of people who took part in the UK-wide wine tasting was 17,540. That creates a new official Guinness World Record.

For comprehensive coverage of all the stories making the local news, read Friday's edition of the West Sussex County Times newspaper. The cost of the newspaper plus postage in England is £1.53 which can be paid for by credit card. Overseas rates are also available, on request.
