MANY thanks and hearty congratulations to Stage Door Theatre Co for a double dose of top-class entertainment at the Windmill Entertainment Centre last week.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hilarious trip to the company training room for the induction programme for the uninspired and indifferent employees of Supersave Supermarket in There's Always a You in Useless, followed by Blue Remembered Hills, the bitter-
sweet romp through the childhoods of a group of friends growing up in the war-torn West Country in 1943.

The adult cast, pictured above, who took on the roles of children in the latter were outstanding.

Every single one portrayed their particular character to perfection – the boys proving to the others (and themselves) their bravado, usually at the expense of the troubled soul of Donald (Duck) with their physical and mental torture of him.

Of course, it all goes horribly wrong when pyromaniac Donald starts a fire in the barn where he has been living and perishes, and all the trembling and frightened children protest their innocence in the wake of the tragedy.

The juxtaposition of film footage and live acting throughout the show was a masterpiece bravely performed and accomplished – most worthy of a Brighton or London fringe performance.

Thanks again for a double treat!
