IT WAS heart-warming to read your article about the residents of Old Mead Road (Gazette, February 25) banding together in the spirit of the "Keep Britain Tidy" campaign.
The photographs reflect how happy and proud they were to be actively improving their surroundings, and will surely inspire other communities to do the same.

It was also nice to read about the generosity of Brighton and Hove Albion's community foot
ball team, in inviting the younger residents to take part in a penalty shoot-out at the nearby Six Bells pub, especially as there is no designated play area in Old Mead Road as yet.

Thanks also to the support of AmicusHorizon housing association, representatives of Arun District Coucil and the police, a good time was clearly had by all!
