WHILE enjoying a family walk on Saturday, September 19, with my three dogs and three children at Brookfield Park, Worthing Road, Littlehampton, a border collie-cross decided it didn't like my dog and viciously bit through his ear, leaving a 2-inch rip.
The owner saw what happened and eventually came over to see my son in hysterics and my dog bleeding profusely from the wound.

My first concern was to get my dog home to receive veterinary attention, but I asked my stepson to return to get the owne
r's details, which they refused to give.

This is a warning to other dog walkers to be on their guard, as this was very distressing for both my poor dog and my children who witnessed this attack on their beloved family dog.

It could easily have been front page news if this dog had chosen a child instead.

To the owner of the dog who upset our Saturday and cost us a fortune on vets' bills, make sure to put your dog on a lead in future, as this could easily have been a child's ear, and thank you for the cowardly act in leaving the park as soon as you realised how serious this incident was.

Helen Ledger, Bluebell Drive, Littlehampton
