NINE of us local "girls" who grew up here in the late '50s believe that there is much to celebrate about Littlehampton, but are also sad that there is much to lament.
While we appreciate that we lived in the age of coffee bars, youth clubs and dancing at the Top Hat (where alcohol wasn't available), it is without doubt that the town centre is now "dead" and certainly not the place for retail therapy or entertainme
nt.

We live in such a beautiful area, where we are fortunate to enjoy the benefit of sea and countryside, but, sadly, we increasingly look elsewhere for our leisure activities.

There is so much scope for new and improved facilities, as is evident in your readers' suggestions, and which would make the best use of the natural environment.

Highdown Drive,
Littlehampton
