I AM a student at the Littlehampton College (editor's note: sixth form), and was at Littlehampton Community School for all five years before that.

With a lot of nice people, and some great teachers, my time there was enjoyable.

All abilities w
ere catered for and everyone had a good time.

I have a lot of concerns about the new academy, which everybody knows was a clear second choice, turned to in panic.

Will the many great teachers stay?

Mr Jewell makes the right noises, but I'm sure we will see changes to the staff, which aren't needed.

Why does one of the leading teaching unions oppose academies?

They wouldn't do this for no reason, and it's deeply concerning.

Faith is a less pressing issue in my eyes, although I hope that the academy is not faith-orientated as this will not help or aid the majority of students.

The current pastoral system is brilliant, with a lot of teachers who have worked with children for a long time doing good jobs — this should continue.
