WITH reference to Tony Dixon's letter (Gazette, September 11), I would like to make a number of points.
Bordon, Whitehill and that part of Hampshire have benefited from continued investment from business over the last 20-30 years.
This is due to the investment in infrastructure from governments giving access to the area from the A3/A3M, the M3 moto
rway, the A31 and the M25 motorway.
It is no surprise that the pay is higher in this area, as there are business parks, retail parks, engineering and manufacturers who are willing to invest in the area, thus needing skilled people in competition with London.
The infrastructure not only invites investment from business, but also allows commuting to London, Southampton and other areas for choice of employment, therefore due to market forces the wages have to be attractive to local people and possibly from outside the area.
What infrastructure has the area of the proposed Eco-Town at Ford got – the A24, Yapton Road, Ford Lane and the Bognor Road, not very inviting for investment for any business in the future, nor has it been in the past, and the building of mass housing will not change this.
