One of the highlights of Yapton's summer takes place this Saturday (August 9).
The 104th annual show of the Yapton and District Cottage Gardeners' Society will be held on the village playing field, opening to the public at 2pm.

The horticultural section is divided into two classes – the Cottagers, for members only, and the O
pen. These have 16 separate sections comprising vegetables, fruit, dahlias, flowers, floral art, handicraft, photographic, domestic, wine and beer and children. Thirteen trophies and special awards will be awarded for the best exhibits.

The British Gladiolus Society (Southern Group) will be holding its competition in parallel to the show to add to the horticultural delights.

In addition to the horticultural marquee, many other attractions will take place on the field and in the village hall. They include Reg's tractors, the Double LL Club of classic vehicles, the Sompting Village Morris Dancers, various stalls and, of course, Terry's famous cream teas.

Further information from society chairman Roy Phillips on 01243 552822 or the show secretary, David Donovan, on 01903 726006.
