Children in West Sussex have voted Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo as their favourite picture book of all time.
Voting has been taking place in schools and libraries during the past nine weeks, as part of the National Year of Reading.
The Gruffalo, illustrated by Alex Schefferler, is a story written in rhyme about a mouse coming face to face with an owl, a
snake and a hungry gruffalo.
In second place is We're Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, with The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle, and Pants, by Giles Andrea and Nick Sharratt, in joint third place.
