AN employee at a Costa Coffee branch in Bognor Regis has been crowned the coffee king in the southern region of Costa's annual Barista of the year competition.
George Newton based at the branch in London Road beat competition from other coffee houses in the southern region and went on to represent the south at the national finals last week, where unfortunately he did not win.
The 19-year-old has been making a good cuppa for the past eight months he has been at the branch, and on a training course he managed to get 100 per cent on his exam.
Mr Newton said: "Coffee is always on top of my agenda. It's not just about making the perfect coffee in every way; it's about creating a piece of artwork.
"The judges were impressed with the way I engaged with the audience along with my speed and personality as well as my passion for coffee excellence."
