A road should be named after Bersted's oldest resident, councillors have been told.
Cllr Sylvia Olliver, one of the area's members on Arun District Council, urged parish councillors to get thinking about names for roads on the 650-home site six development which is set to be built.
This would ensure names reflected the area in which they were built.
