THE INQUEST into the death of a two-year-old tot has concluded she died due to 'medical misadventure.'
Little Indya Trevelyan, 2, from Pease Pottage died on April 18 after her tracheotomy tube became dislodged and she suffered a cardiac arrest - following an operation at Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Now an inquest into her death has concluded that she died due to 'medical misadventure.'
Coroner Arthur John Hooper said: "It is clear from the evidence that when presented with this course of events doctors acted with Indya's best interests in mind and in no way intended the traumatic out come that was her death. In no way does it take away the enormity of what happened."
He added: "I have reached the conclusion, that I am to record the verdict, in the simplest of terms, as medical misadventure."
Turning to distraught parents Sian and Nigel Trevelyan, Coroner Hooper praised their 'courage.'
He added: "You have had a dreadful ordeal, and sat through a long inquest which must have inevitably meant you have recalled a lot of what happened from the time Indya was in hospital."
