THE PEDESTRIAN involved in a car accident last Saturday (November 29) has been identified as local man Jimmy McCammont, 58.
The Worth Road granddad is battling for his life after his wife and daughter saw him caught in the smash. Jimmy was stepping out of a taxi just yards from his home when he was hit.

Jacky- his wife of 38 years- was standing on the doorstep of their
daughter Kerry's house, on the same street, when she witnessed the crash."I was just about to go home," said Jacky, 55. "There was a big bang which my daughter heard from the kitchen.

"I looked up and saw him fly through the air. We went out and just saw him lying on the ground. He was unconscious and the bonnet of the car was smashed in."

Mr McCammont, who works as a packer at BOC Edwards on Kelvin Way is now on a ventilator at the Atkinson Morley Wing of St George's Hospital in London, after being transferred from East Surrey Hospital.

Jimmy's shocked family said friends and neighbours were rallying round as they pray for a swift recovery. "There have been a lot of phone calls and people have been so supportive," said Jacky.

"He's a tough old git and he's definitely fighting this hard and he won't give up easily- I hope to God he doesn't." Jimmy used to run a butcher on Gales Drive in Three Bridges and is a well-known character on the road.
