FIREFIGHTERS tackled two blazes as firebugs torched a car and a garage in separate 'arson' attacks.
Two engines from Crawley fire station raced to Langley Green after a residential garage was set alight at 10.30pm on Tuesday (October 7).

The property suffered 90 per cent damage from heat and smoke.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a garage fire in Langley Green that after inspection we believe was deliberately set.

"The fire which took place in Lark Rise was deliberately ignited and need two fire engines from Crawley to deal with the situation and to stop the fire from spreading.

"The fire was dealt with using two hose reels and breathing apparatus before the area was dampened down.

"Adjacent garages were lightly damaged by smoke."

Later in a separate attack at 3.44am Wednesday (October 8) yobs set a car on fire in Burns Road, Three Bridges.

A luxury Jaguar salon car was torched after yobs set three small fires underneath the engine block.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "The second incident occurred on Burns Road, Three Bridges, where we were called to the deliberate ignition of a car.

"One engine from Crawley was called to the scene but the car suffered substantial damage."

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that we attended both incidents and that the investigations were handed back to the fire service."

Fire investigation teams have indicated that both fires were started deliberately.
