Families which can give a child a secure and loving home are being sought by West Sussex County Council.
Peter Crawhurst, the county's adoption team manager, said the council wanted to hear from people who lived in or near West Sussex.
"Every year we look for, and find, adoptive families for 40 to 50 children," he said.
"Finding the right family f
or a child is a complex task requiring great care. We know some children from West Sussex wait too long for a permanent and loving home.
"So the creation of a larger and diverse group of prospective adoptive parents gives us a better chance of placing children quickly with a well-prepared adoptive family."
