A ten-year-old girl has been awarded a hand-made bike worth £400 for her substantial fundraising efforts for St Wilfrid's Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Susanna Crayton took part in the Saltern Way Charity cycle ride this year after watching her dad take part in 2007.
She managed to raise £800 for the charities, with the grand total raised by the event reaching £11,700.
"I did the cycle ride this year as it was something I had wanted to do since my dad took part last year," she said.
"Dad and I completed the ride in about an hour-and-a-half."
Her dad Richard added: "We both wanted to support St Wilfrid's as we believe hospices provide an essential service at a particularly critical time for patients and their relatives."
A further charity ride is planned for Sunday, May 10 2009.
