FOUR van-loads of rubbish was cleared from just four metres of ditches during a community warden tidy-up in East Wittering.
Televisions and computer units were found among the heaps of waste which was cleared from Stubcroft Lane.

Plenty of log cutting and graffiti removal was also applied to the area.

"It's surprising how much rubbish we picked up," said Andrew Pilley, community development and wardens manager at Chichester District Council (CDC).

"If these ditches remained filled and blocked over winter it could cause further problems. The water is now able to flow on as a result of the tidy-up."

This is the fourth year CDC has organised a session in support of the National Community Service Volunteers' Make a Difference Day.
