Warnings over the impact of possible changes in pharmacy services are being given by local authorities in West Sussex, following a new government White Paper.
There are fears reductions could seriously affect small rural communities across the county.

Chichester District Council has come down generally in favour of keeping the current set-up.

However, following a discussion by its policy development
committee, the authority is urging distance restrictions on dispensing should be lifted to allow GPs to dispense to all of their patients, not just those living a certain distance from the surgery.

The council is also supporting a proposal to allow GPs to sell over-the-counter medications to patients.
