GOODWOOD Motor Circuit will host an environmentally-friendly race on Sunday as budding engineers compete to win an annual electric car challenge.
Pupils from schools across the UK will race in teams inside full-scale electric racing cars they have designed and built.

The winner will be named Greenpower Formula 24 champion 2008. This is the tenth year the event has been held at Goodwood.
Greenpower, which promotes engineering and technology as careers to pupils, gives schools a standard 24-volt electric wheelchair motor and four 12-volt car batteries.

It is then up to each school team to design and build their car with the help of teachers, engineers, parents and sponsoring companies.

This year the Earl of March will start the final Formula 24 race at 11am. Petworth's Seaford College, last year's under-16 winners, hope to retain their title.

At 11am, the 16 to 21-year-old age group will compete in the Formula 24+ class race.

Nearly 200 teams have competed at qualifying heats around the UK.

Entry to the event is free from 10am to 5pm.
