Get your taste buds ready as this weekend sees the launch of a major new food festival.
A Thought For Food, which takes place in the grounds of Stansted House near Rowlands Castle, will get mouths watering with more than 100 food producers on show tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday (September 5, 6 and 7).

The event, organised by those who
set up the Emsworth Food Festival, will be set out in the style of a village on the lawns of the stately home.

In the centre will be a village square with a fountain, a pub and a wine-tasting area.

Leading from the square will be streets lined with food stalls from across the country.

On the edge of the village will be a bandstand and a tea room. Tomorrow at the bandstand a tea dance will take place from 3pm until 5.30pm.

Tomorrow's other highlights include a real ale masterclass by Fullers' head brewer John Keeping, and demonstrations by TV chef Momma Cherri, which also take place on Saturday.

On Saturday wine producer and race jockey Javier Hidalgo will be leading a wine- tasting session. There will also be a cookery school for children.

On Sunday it is the public cookery competition, You CAN Cook! The competition sees members of the public cook on stage with local chef Lawrence Murphy.

Also on Sunday there is another wine-tasting session in Stansted House.

Organisers have announced a list of food and drink heroes who will be appearing at the event.

These include TV chef Momma Cherri, The Chilli Jam Company from Emsworth, Le Salon du Chocolat, chef at the Earl of March in Lavant Giles Thompson, chef of Fat Olives Restaurant in Emsworth Lawrence Murphy, wine producer Javier Hidalgo, head brewer for Fullers John Keeling, restaurant critic Carol Godsmark, food producer The Organic Kitchen, and food producer Three Harbours Beef.

To make it easier for visitors to get to the event a free bus service from Emsworth will be available.

The event is open from 10am until 7pm on Friday. On Saturday it is open from 10am until 6pm, and on Sunday from 10am until 5pm.

Tickets are £6 for adults, £5.50 for students and over-60s and £2 for children. For ticket information call 01243 431002. Parking at the event is free.
