A NEW steel distribution and processing plant at Shoreham Port that could create 280 jobs has been given the go-ahead.
John Parker & Son Ltd (Parkersteel) lodged a planning application with Adur District Council in November 2007 for the new facility.

Earlier this year, the council backed the project but asked Parkersteel, its agent Cluttons and Shoreham Port to provide additional information relating to the development.

All three parties have worked in partnership and provided the required documentation to Adur District Council, which said it was now satisfied with the proposals.

Construction is poised to start in the new year, with the plant expected to be fully operational in early 2010.
