Campaigners flex muscles again on site homes plan

UP to 160 new homes could be built in Thakeham on a mushroom production site in Storrington Road.
Pressure group Thakeham Village Action (TVA) was formed nine years ago to fight the threat of a housing estate at the Abingworth Nursery site, which belongs to Sussex Mushrooms. At the time, residents strongly resisted plans to develop the area.


Now London-based landowner Beamsync has submitted new proposals for the playing fields at Abingworth Nursery.


An exhibition outlining the scheme went on display at Sussex Mushrooms in Thakeham on Saturday and drew almost 150 residents to see the plans and give their views to developers.
