Thomas Bierne, 20, of Griffin Crescent, Wick, was charged with arson and theft of a motor vehicle following a car fire on the A259, in Wick, during the early hours of Saturday, May 28 following an on-going investigation by Sussex Police. He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 4. A 23-year-old Rustington man was also arrested in connection with the fire and has been bailed until Saturday, July 23, pending further inquiries. Police investigating a series of vehicle fires in Wick have also arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with more than 20 arsons. He has been released on conditional bail until Saturday, July 16, pending further inquiries. Detective Constable Duncan Peake of West Sussex CID has been investigating the Wick fires. He said: “These vehicle fires have caused much distress and cost for the owners of the vehicles that have been targeted.
