Comic Jim wants to thank fans for sticking with him

The show deals with how Jim coped with unfounded allegations of sexual abuse and his redemption in the eyes of the public through winning Celebrity Big Brother and an acclaimed season at this year’s Edinburgh Comedy Festival.

“The show is my review of last year” he said. “So I have to talk about being arrested last year or people will say, ‘Why didn’t he mention that, the most obvious thing going?’

“I do talk about what happened when I was in a police cell and how I was feeling.

“There are not many laughs in that, though there’s one or two.

“Well, everyone wants to know what really happened in Big Brother and they get to know that and before you ask I’m not telling you, though it does involve an electric toothbrush!

“It’s like when you win the FA Cup and you parade it through your hometown. That’s what I’m doing with this tour, thanking the people of Britain for staying with me and saving my life.”

Jim, now aged 60, explains how successful his Edinburgh Festival event was this year.

“It was packed and it got standing ovations and all the young comics came to see me and know they are all my mates.

“I performed what I always have done and not what people perceive me to be.

“I went on and I was a comedian, just like all the other guys.

“Nothing offensive, nothing racist, a little bit sexist but I’ve been married five times so that is to be expected.

“I wrote the book almost as it happened, so I was making notes as soon as I came out of the cells so it wasn’t a memoir.

“More like a live blog, to help me stay sane during the experience.”

So what can Hastings Theatre audiences expect?

Jim added: “They can expect two hours of side-splitting comedy from a very handsome looking elderly gentleman.”
